Issue Position: Voter ID

I believe the state of Minnesota has some of loosest laws on voting in the country. We allow for one person in a neighborhood to "vouch" for up to 15 people in their precinct. These "vouched for" voters need practically nothing to prove who they are and they get to vote. I have been doing my homework on this topic and their seems to be some confusion on the left as to what voter ID really is, what is costs and what effect it has on the voters. If you look to other states that have passed similar measures they're voter turnout has increased and the cost has been significantly less than what has been estimated by the left. The opposition to voter ID is simply worried that a large portion of their constituents will not show up to vote. In every state that voter ID has been approved this has not been the case. Minnesota is also #1 in voter fraud with almost 200 convictions since 2010. Over 6,000 Election Day registrants provided names or addresses that could not be verified after their ballots were accepted and counted in the 2008 election.
